BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PLANT AND ITS PRESENCE

Apart from fern, Cola de Caballo is one of the oldest plants in the world. Its history dates back as far as to Paleolithic. Usually it grows in the wild close to rivers or sources of water. It grows up to one meter high. In the specific climate of Peru in the soil rich in minerals it grows up to 3 meters high and sometimes creates beautiful forests.
One of the main features of Cola de Caballo is the high content of minerals. Especially kalium salt and silica. Ash obtained from that plant contains 60%-80% silicon, which makes it one of the richest plant sources of that mineral in the world. During cooking silicon dissolves in water, thanks to that is well absorbed by the digestive system. It is really valuable because silicon is essential to the proper functioning of the body and has beneficial influence on metabolism.
